Comprehensive Eye Care (Wellness Exams) in Tustin
Annual eye exams are essential to maintaining good ocular health throughout your lifetime. Unfortunately there are many issues in the eye that can go unnoticed until significant damage has occurred. Given that the eye is the only place in the body where we can view live nerves and blood vessels without making an incision, it allows us a unique perspective into the status your overall health.
At the start of your eye exam, one of our office staff will perform a series of tests using state-of-the-art equipment to test your peripheral vision, get an estimate of your prescription, and analyze your glasses, as well as offer you the opportunity to utilize the iWellness scan to screen for disease in the deep layers of the retina. At this point, you will meet with Dr. Broady or Dr. Elson to go over your health history, and discuss any questions or concerns you might have. Our doctors will then give your eyes a thorough exam including checking your acuity and ocular alignment, determining your ideal glasses prescription, and finishing with examining your ocular health. During the course of the exam we keep a keen eye out for binocular vision problems, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and a plethora of other health and vision issues. At the end of the your appointment you have the opportunity to work with our talented opticians to help you understand all of the different glasses and lens options available and choose which ones are best suited to you and the way you want to use your glasses. If you happen to have vision insurance, our opticians will also help you understand your coverage and maximize your benefits. This entire process usually takes around one hour.
As a side note, should any issues be found in the course of your comprehensive exam, we also work with most medicare and PPO medical insurances to enable us to have you back for more specific and problem-focused testing.
